Why I'm Running

My entire career has been built around helping people through difficult moments.

As a respiratory therapist, I cared for patients and families facing health crises. As an attorney and magistrate, I've helped people navigate some of the most emotional and life-changing situations they will ever experience. Throughout every chapter of my career, one thing has remained constant: a commitment to listening, serving, and treating people with dignity, because I deeply believe that everyone coming before me matters.

That's why I'm running for Judge of the Lucas County Domestic Relations Court.

For most people, coming to Domestic Relations Court is not their first choice. It's their last resort. Families come to court when they have exhausted every other option and need help finding a path forward. They deserve a judge who understands the weight of what they're carrying and who treats every case with the care it deserves.

I understand those challenges personally. I've experienced divorce myself. I know how difficult these situations can be and how deeply they affect families, children, and futures. People who come before the court deserve compassion, respect, and the opportunity to be heard.

My goal is simple: every person who walks into my courtroom should leave knowing they were treated fairly, listened to carefully, and given their day in court.

Justice isn't just about reaching decisions or telling people “this is how it’s going to be.” It's about helping families find resolution, closure, and a path forward. It is an honor to serve in a role that helps people through some of the hardest moments of their lives, and I believe my experience, compassion, and commitment to this community make me uniquely prepared for that responsibility.

About Me

I'm a lifelong Lucas County resident whose career has been dedicated to one simple mission: caring for people.

After earning my first degree from the University of Toledo in 1985, I spent more than 20 years working on the frontlines of healthcare as a Respiratory Therapist, helping patients and families through some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Driven by a desire to serve my community in new ways, I returned to the University of Toledo to earn a Bachelor's degree in Administrative Services before completing my Juris Doctor in 1997.

Over the last three decades, I have built a career helping families navigate life’s most challenging circumstances. Following years in private practice focused on family law, I have served for nearly 15 years as a Magistrate in the Lucas County Juvenile and Probate Courts, overseeing matters that profoundly affect Lucas County families.

Outside the courtroom, I'm a husband, father, grandfather, son, and neighbor. My wife and I have built a blended family with nine adult children and six grandchildren. Whether I'm spending time with family, riding my motorcycle, or working in my yard, I remain grounded in the everyday experiences of the people I serve.

My perspective is shaped not only by decades of professional experience, but by a lifetime spent living, working, and raising a family right here in Lucas County.
